Gah! As explained in my last pet post, my rats really like to chew on things they shouldn't. And I coped, I mean, who needs intact wallpaper anyway, right? (Note that by now I offer them two types of rodents chewing stones, rodent toys from pressed herbs, wood, paper, cardboard, ropes, cloth, and of course hard to chew treats and their regular food, but once outside the cage they still like to try to chew on everything, and my admonishments don't make much difference.)
And okay, they're rodents I get that. But now they started to chew on cables, which is really, really bad. Not so much because it destroys the cables (though that also sucks), but because eventually they'll get electrocuted if they keep this up and I'm not quick enough to catch them. Mere moments after I heard an unusual chewing sound and had figured out which nook it was coming from, I was plucking my rat away from my satellite receiver cable, and it was already chewed through to the metal. I now fixed it with isolation tape and my tv reception still works but what if it had been the power line?! I'm in an old flat and the cables to the outlets aren't inside the walls but on top of them as well.
So, I see some home improvement projects in my near future. *sigh*
