I've just come back from yet another vet visit with Dustin. He's worse again, with the breathing problems and also just his general health. The vet said that it could be the mycoplasma infection or he could have water in his lungs because of his heart, so in a kind of last ditch effort to cover all possible bases and give him another chance he's now on four (!) daily medications: an antibiotic, some heart medication, a diuretic for possible water in his lungs, and a mucolytic agent, and the diuretic is to be taken twice daily even. Today he also got one of those general strengthening/booster shots.

I think it is kind of a nightmare to have to get that many drugs into Dustin daily for the next week, but the alternative would have been not to try anymore, and I'm not quite ready to give up on him yet. They also brought up the possibility to leave him with the vet, but besides being more expensive I really don't think being alone and abandoned in a strange place would have helped him much, and he just should be as comfortable as possible.

Anyway, if you like, maybe send some good thoughts his way, Dustin could definitely use them.
