Criminal Minds 3x09

This week's resolution mitigated my serious WTF?!? reaction to last week's Garcia plot. I'm still a bit disgruntled that "of course" they couldn't have just let her have a fun date, and I dislike the tendency of crime shows in general to whump their law enforcement characters in a round robin fashion as crime victims, rather than to weave in characterization and personal life bits in another way, that may take a bit more effort. But at least there was a job-related reason that the killer targeted her, and the plot wasn't bad, and I liked finding out a bit more about Garcia and her non-conformist past.

Also while it is a bit cliche to have her set up with another fellow geek for romance in the end, Xander (sorry I'm bad with names, I have no idea what his character was called here) is cute, and they'd make a nice couple.

It's not so much that I mind she's set up with a fellow geek as that they set her up so that the geek thought her mind was hot first and only then met her, which reinforces the idea that of course a guy wouldn't see her and talk to her and think, "Cute chick" and be interested.

It would've been awesome if he'd seen her and said, "You didn't say she was hot."

Just something to indicate that it wasn't the stereotypical, "I love her for her brain."

That would have made a huge difference in the perception to me. Could have been a classy moment.
