SGA thematic list: Atlantis is cut off from Earth or secedes

I've decided to start a new thematic list for another one of my favorite SGA fic tropes, an Atlantis that either by necessity or choice has to fend for itself in the Pegasus galaxy.

For a story to be included in this thematic list the Atlantis expedition has to loose contact with Earth permanently, or at least for a significantly longer time than in canon, declare independence from Earth, or be stranded as a colony in Pegasus after Atlantis is lost. I've divided the list in the following subsections:

1. Atlantis is involuntarily cut off from Earth, e.g. it's on its own because Earth has been lost or is too occupied in the Milky Way (overrun by Ori, Replicators or Goa'uld, blown up, hit by a natural disaster...), or has never (or only much later) reestablished contact in the first place; contact with Earth may or may not happen eventually, but the separation has had a lasting impact, and is somewhat central to the story.
2. Atlantis intentionally secedes from Earth, i.e. declares its independence, or its allegiance to one or more Pegasus cultures/alliances or develops into a colony city in the (far) future.
3. The Atlantis expedition members (i.e. more than just the team) settle as a colony somewhere else in Pegasus, e.g. because Atlantis the city has been lost to some enemy or disaster, or taken over by Earth officials the original expedition can't support in their goals leading to mass desertion, or similar scenarios.

Hm, the second one fits, but I skimmed the first one and it seems only to have Ronon/John/Elizabeth on a planet? And not in contact with the others who seem to presumed dead? That's not really a colony, more like the stranded team stories, with a slightly different pairing configuration. Or did I miss something in my quick read through?

I thought it was more of a camp, with a focus on the three, but it *is* very vague.

I'm following slybrarian's current WIP but I wasn't sure yet whether it would end in secession because the US president seemed to support the independence covertly? I thought something more complicated might be going on.

And I suspected Auburn's Bigbang fic could fit, but haven't read that one yet. (so much fic!)

I also read Repercussions a while ago, but I vaguely recall it as some kind of "Rodney stages a coup for Sheppard" fic (with Elizabeth bashing, hence I never reread) that stops before any longterm consequences wrt earth relations happen, but I guess secession would be the logical conclusion, so if you say it fits, I'll add it.

I think I'll skip that one then, because I'd rather stick with just listing the ones that are clearly about the expedition's fate, rather than a pairing/threesome/foursome stranded in Pegasus, which is much wider as parameters.

Oh, and I just read Fugue State and that definitely fits under secession. John&Co break out Elizabeth who has been detained at Area 51 after the replicators, boot out Carter, and flee from the SGC.

lol you and I did exactly the same thing with Repercussions; I was told it was Rodney secedes but I never actually got to the end. And good to know about Fugue State, too!

Sorry you couldn't connect, but that should be a temporary glitch. My url hasn't changed. Usually downtimes resolve on their own in a few hours, but if this persists tomorrow I'll mail my webspace provider. (I have a cheap webhosting plan so the service is on an according level.)

In the meantime I haven't been updating these lists in years, so you can just go to an archived version on the wayback machine.
