weird LJ hiccup

For some reason LJ set the number of entries displayed on my f-list to ten, which wasn't what I had it set at, and I haven't been fiddling with any settings there so, I can't accidentally have changed it. I corrected this again in the style settings, and now it displays more entries again, but I wonder why LJ did that. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Me too. I had to change it back.

I haven't seen that, but what LJ has been doing is logging my home laptop out every night. It's HIGHLY annoying and I have to believe it's intentional. Dunno why my work (IE6) login stays okay.

It did it for mine too. Then it took a while for me to remember where to go in order to change it.

They changed the number of default entries. So if you hadn't picked a specific number, but just set it to generic default, it changed it from 20 to 10.

Yeah, they just mentioned it in their LJ announcement email thingie. It's on purpose.

I hate the email "news" announcements so much. They all end with this gigantic run-on paragraph of ridiculous adventures of "Frank the Goat" that sound like they were written by a stupid, dull, eight-year-old who thinks s/he's incredibly amusing and yet, isn't. I cannot imagine who the target audience of this nonsense is and yet every time, there it is again.

I do worry about the automatic setting of flists to 10 entries. To me it just feels like the kind of thing you do when you're running out of money in your budget and the next paycheck is just a little too far off. Not really the feeling I want to get from a journaling service where a lot of stuff I care about is stored. (And I don't even mean *my* stuff, since that's all backed up. But I remember when yahoogroups started deleting archived messages of high-traffic groups and everyone was shocked about that, too...)

Yep. I thought I must have accidentally changed the settings at some point and forgotten about it. Guess not.

(as I had your frontpage open)

Yes, it is worrying, and they did explicitly do it for site performance, and said it would only affect people that had never changed it.

Except I know I had changed it, when I upgraded my phone, I changed it from 10 to 20 deliberately as the newwer phone could handle larger filesize pages.

Annoying, frustrating, badly done and worrying. Par for the course these days :-(

I noticed your post while looking at my friendsfriends list and just wanted to let you know that it happened to me too.

Mine did it too, though I didn't even realize it had happened 'til I saw this post of yours; I thought my flist had just piled up more than usual, so I was having to skip back more than I normally do! How weird.

Yup, happened to me! So weird.
