rec me happy fic?

Have you read any feel-good stories recently? Normally I tend towards angsty with happy endings in my reading, but I am in need of completely fluffy escapism. So for the purpose of this inquiry I mean stories with happy endings in which the characters don't suffer too much before either, but preferably something with some sort of plot, not PWPs or h/c fluff or the like, e.g. genres like romantic comedies, or caper stories or humor or such, where something happens, but it is not that extreme in tension, angst or drama (if that makes sense). As a complicating factor, the plot shouldn't depend on some stupid misunderstanding between the characters, or ineptitude either (those sometimes hit my embarrassment squick).

So have you read any recent, tragedy free stories lately? XMFC would be particularly nice, but I'd take White Collar, Sherlock, Star Trek Reboot, SGA, Merlin...

Lemme rummage through the folder of stuff that hasn't made it into Delicious yet...

Oh! This one is, on the one hand, absolutely ridiculous, but, on the other, fits the bill nicely (and I am planning to rec it, after all). It's a Parent Trap AU:

This one leans a weeee bit more towards PWP, but it's super warm and sweet:

Not fanfiction, and not remotely recent, but when I cannot stand tension, I turn to the oeuvre of PG Wodehouse. Bertie Wooster (of the books including the name Jeeves in the title) tends to be generally incompetent, but not in ways that offend my embarrassment squick, as his main beliefs -- that he is a good friend and a good man -- are always true, if not quite in the ways he seems to think.

here are some

Okay. I have a lot to list, and to keep it organized, I’m gonna forgo in-depth summaries. Some are short little fics, some are more in-depth. If any of the links don't show up, email me at jillyapple1 at aol dot com.

BBC Sherlock: “A Brief Account Of Life With Zombies” by Silver Pard http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6253167/1/A_Brief_Account_Of_Life_With_Zombies; Indelible by abundantlyqueer (John leads Lestrade’s team to victory in a paint-ball game) http://archiveofourown.org/works/191672; “Unexpected” and “Peacemaker” by Mad_Maudlin http://archiveofourown.org/works/222211 and http://archiveofourown.org/works/222207; “Friends in Embarrassing Places” by catslynw (John goes to court to face the ASBO. Sherlock Holmes (books): “An Ordinary Meeting” and “Truth is the Critic” by aragonite (“Meeting” show-cases the Yarders’ reactions to Dr. Watson. The second chapter is particularly funny. “The Art of Reports” is embedded inside “Meeting” and tells a tale of comic missteps.) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4188511/1/An_Ordinary_Meeting; (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4190215/1/Truth_is_the_Critic

Pat’s written some other reboot stories I haven’t read. And some downright brilliant (though often angsty) original series fic.

Merlin: “Merlin the idiot’s Wikipedia page” by rainchild (a story told with pictures. Merlin makes Arthur's Wikipedia page better) http://rainchild.livejournal.com/58025.html; “Onfindan” by astolat )who wrote some other brilliant stories (warning! slash)) http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/merlin/Onfindan.html

Supernatural: “I Thought I Saw” and “Net Knots” by Cat’s Whiskers (I don’t want to spoil the first. In the second, Sam builds a web-site). http://www.fanfiction.net/u/818917/The_Cats_Whiskers

Oh, I found a link to a story on your crossover recs, which is what brought me over here: ER/Supernatural: Chicago by Carol: http://ficwriter1966.livejournal.com/4300.html .

This doesn’t really qualify as feel-good except in the sense that you fell good at humanity’s ingenuity, endurance and ability to kick-tuchus: A Terminator fic by Stephensmat called Judgment Calls. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4006891/1/Judgment_Calls

I gave [livejournal.com profile] astridv some recs for fun/cute/funny White Collar fic awhile back - they can be found here. I started to come up with some to rec for you and then realized that they're all on the list that I rec'd for her anyway! I hope that you can find some happy distractions there. *hugs*

ETA: Okay, not *all* of them: That One Time, With The Thing by LithiumDoll is a longish, plotty, really sweet pre-series story. (since jossed by canon, but still worth reading!)

Hopefully you'll find something you like! A couple more not on that list: there's a cute series of ficlets I ran across recently from the viewpoint of Satchmo (the dog) which can be found here. And I was just reading Queequeg and Ishmael Road Trip in New Jersey, which is really sweet.
