I just read that Moebius died

What a sad day for comics. This is the obituary on the BBC news site. If you inexplicably don't know his work, the official page is not great (the navigation sucks for one and I don't think my problems come from it being in French, and it doesn't have good galleries that I can find), but this Tumblr dedicated to his comics has many scans and is English too.

I woke up this morning and my flist was full of tributes. RIP.

He was never my absolute favorite artist, but such an innovative force in comics. I was so impressed as a teenager when I first read all his SF comics, like the Incal series, and Arzach. And he wasn't even *that* old yet. But of course cancer never cares.

Yeah. He never was my absolute favorite, but still amazing. I was so impressed as a teenager when I first read all his SF comics, like the Incal series, and Arzach. And of course I read Blueberry too, though I don't own those, because I read them in the library. Unfortunately the comic festivals I attended years back where he did signings the lines for him were always crazy long, so I never even tried to get a sketch or such. I did see some of his art in the original though.

Yes, his line art is so impressive. And he was versatile too, and such a big influence on comics and expanding what they could be.

He wasn't that old either. Apparently cancer got him. :(
