At least to me it seems he gets to do more than in the first, though admittedly I haven't yet watched all first season episodes yet.
This season has been so much better for the Flash--even in episodes like Brave and the Bold where he was spotlighted, we had things like GL punching him out. Or the scene, I think it's in the GL episode In Blackest Night, where he comes out of the ship, is met by a semicircle of guys with guns, and panics and runs back into the ship. Me, yelling at the screen: "Who cares if they have guns? You have superspeed! Run around behind them and start banging heads!" Less character idiocy, too.
