Black Panther comics

I collected the most recent Black Panther series on paper, and wasn't *that* into it, but since they were free to download as ebooks this weekend I got them as ebooks too, and a bunch of recent side and mini-series I don't already have on paper, as well a ton of older Black Panther comics and the Shuri ones, that were also free. Actually all still seem to be free -- I got them from Amazon but it's a ComiXology offer that you can also get on Amazon or something? I don't have an account for the former.

Anyway, I have no idea if or when I'll read several hundred Black Panther comics, but if you were ever curious about Black Panther comics, you can currently still get them for free. No idea how long this offer will last.

Amazon bought Comixology a few years ago and consolidated user accounts to be Amazon, hence the crossover.

I suppose if there aren't any antitrust measures all retail will be Amazon in the not too distant future. On the upside, it was really convenient for me in this case, because I don't think I'd have bothered to get a comixology account even for free Black Panther issues.

*nods* I have a love/hate relationship with what Amazon has become, in large part because I live in the Seattle metro area.

I've been an early adopter around here, because before Amazon English language books were really hard to get and expensive here. Like you had to go to specialist stores, and they cost a lot more. So I started to use Amazon way back when it was just books. But I never expanded my use, except into ebooks, and just got more and more annoyed how the website keeps trying to prod me into prime and all sorts of crap.

I still buy German books from local bookstores of which there are three within walking distance that are more convenient than tracking diverted Amazon deliveries all over my neighborhood, as inevitably delivery people pretend that I'm not home to avoid five flights of steep stairs with no elevator and instead deliver to random stores or neighbors. Now you can get English books locally too, but they are still more expensive and slower with those so I tend to still use Amazon, but I don't really buy anything else on Amazon unless I can't find it in stores, because I prefer to buy things in person, if I absolutely have to get stuff. (I only really enjoy shopping for comics and books.) But I seem to be an outlier with everyone moving towards online shopping and delivery.

I can see where that makes a difference. For me, it was books and then I moved to Seattle and then it was, "oh, I'm supporting my local company/friends" and then it's this monolith. ::wry::
