The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale reaction

So I really enjoyed the character bits, but I don't understand the plot.

Like, how exactly was Sharon's plan supposed to go? Why did she set Bartoc against Sam? Okay, so she's the Power Broker, wanting revenge on the US government, but how does all that hold together?

However that scene with Bucky celebrating with Sam's family and friends and everyone being happy was seriously cute, and I hope it will fuel a ton of Sam/Bucky (or even just Sam & Bucky) fluff.

That Sam managed to get Isiah at least got a bit in the museum exhibit as acknowledgment was a nice touch, though I have to say that gold statue looked tacky, and I hope he got at least a civil settlement with a ton of money for years of his imprisonment out of this too, rather than just a plaque.

Heh. This is basically my feeling on the show itself as a whole - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the character parts, but somewhat confused and indifferent to much of the plot itself.

There were entirely too many shadowy organisations for just six episodes. Cutting those down to half for a more straightforward plot and doubling the Sam & Bucky bit would have worked very well for me.

I would totally love an edit that removes 80% of all the shady dealings shenanigans, and just deals with the boys, Wakanda flashbacks, Sam's family back home, and Isaiah Bradley. *g*

Yeah. I enjoyed the campy Zemo bits too, so I think I would have favored just something where Sam and Bucky fight maybe some Hydra remnants or revivalists, so you could keep the need for Zemo, the angry Wakandans and even the government pushing Walker and the Isaiah part, but leave the convoluted and half-nonsensical post snap terrorism setup out of it, and skip the evil!Sharon thing too.

I've heard in a couple of places (podcast, Youtube) that there was another plot for Karli, one having to do with a pandemic, that had to be edited out -- well, they felt it had to be edited out because there's a real pandemic now -- and that's why the plot line is a bit, uh, uneven. I don't know if that's true, and even if it is, I don't think it has anything to do with Sharon. I think Sharon is NOT really the pawnbroker; that Karli just thought she was, no doubt because Sharon let her believe that. I think she was talking to the pawnbroker at the very end.

I loved Zemo! And I was so, so happy to see the title change from The Falcon to Captain American and the Winter Soldier. AWESOME.

PS: I wonder if Nick Fury is the pawnbroker? Because where is he? And doesn't he need lots of equipment? Hmmm.

I guess she could be undercover in some way. I don't think they would recast Fury as Power Broker, when he's also supposedly away doing Skrull related things iirc. Not that Sharon makes much sense as serum peddling criminal either.

I've been thinking about this also. mirabile's point is interesting. I thought that they were trying to show that life is really, really complex and--dare I say it--the clean cut divide between good evil/ terrorist rebels is an artefact of Superhero comics or Westerns, and really the nuance is whether or not you deliberately hurt people.

I clocked Sharon as a bad guy, but I have to wonder if it is Sharon (mask or Kree?). The character was in it for the profit-capitalism, which was the enemy in the story.

All the Sam &Bucky feels were definitely worth it.

Since I'm not very invested in Sharon, I wouldn't mind if she now had turned cynic, only out to make money because the government dropped her, and she wants to be comfortable while getting back at them. But if that is what they were going for, why would she help blow up her own lab when the super soldier serum is such a valuable commodity? And if finagling a pardon after all is her main goal, to get deeper in or such, and the serum production a sacrifice for later, better pay off, why the plot with setting Bartoc on Sam, rather than just selling out the Flag Smashers?

Maybe there's actually two Sharons, one undercover and one alien imposter impersonating her for sabotage purposes.
