I'm so glad the colors work for you. :) I don't have a lot of practice with computer coloring and drawing shadows and highlights correctly isn't one of my talents anyway, but especially superheroes look so much more like themselves in color (at least IMO).
Thank you. =) I think the old school impression is because I limit myself to just one main color for each area/item plus one highlight tone and one shadow tone variant of the same color, so it's really quite a limited color palette compared to current comic coloring (mostly I do it this way because I'm lazy, and I already need a ridiculous amount of time to color anything because I lack practice). OTOH the tones themselves are of course not limited by printing concerns and such, so it looks prettier, and not as garish as real old-school comics.
I wouldn't mind that at all, in fact that would be very cool. =) It's an illustration to go with the story after all, and I'm happy you like it well enough to put it up with the story. Just put up a link to my website with it, so that people can easily find my other stuff if they want to.
I am so glad I chose to surf your LJ for my break.
The colors are *beautiful*, and they emphasize one of the things I love about the original drawing: the difference in size/shape between Bruce and Dick.
And yeah, I mean, Dick isn't slight or tiny or anything like that, nor do I like Batman grotesquely muscled (and really exaggerated size differences are so not my kink), but Bruce is a bit taller than Dick (I think Dick's 5'10" and Bruce 6'2" according to the SF&O) and definitely bulkier, and it should show when one draws them.
No, I have no problems at all with others making icons from my art (well, with the exception of others using my RatCreature cartoons, but considering that those are kind of self-portraits I think it's rather obvious why I don't want that), especially not in this case considering that it's an illustration for your story. I'm thrilled you like it enough to use it for an icon. :) I'd appreciate it though if credit was given in the icon comments.
Very beautiful work. I love the embrace. I can practically feel it myself. I love the way Bruce hides his head as well (and the fact he has his mask off too). Maybe he's a little ashamed (of the depth of his emotions), maybe a little shy... And Dick seems quietly ecstatic about it all. Top stuff.

And... man. Dick. The nose.
I... okay, so possibly I have a thing about noses, but... *NOSE*
*squeezes him, TOO*
