I couldn't resist the opportunity to make my cartoon-self wear seasonal costumes, though there was grumbling about ridiculous pixie boots and frilly dresses... ;)
This is amusing. I've spent the last hour on your journal, having come here from josanpq's The Village because I wanted to look at your icons, being intrigued by the knowledge that you did them all. What a treat they were! I'd seen a few of them before when you commented in different journals, but the collection - wow.
I was interested in your most recent posts on drawing, and representations of the female in drawing/comics, and HP...
I don't recall anything on colours of Auror robes in the books (and the films haven't featured any yet - Moody in GoF is (a) retired (b) eccentric, (c) functioning as a teacher not an Auror; we may see some briefly in OotP, but look how the GoF film messed up the DEs outfits - did them up like the Ku Klux Klan).
Indeed, JKR seems not to go into that kind of detail, apart from for Dumbledore, Snape and Fudge, all of whom are oddities in sartorial style. Usually when she mention how wizards dress she's making the point that wizards have got buckley's chance of fitting in to the Muggle world because they don't pay enough attention to Muggles to understand how they should dress if they want to pass. Which rather implies that they're not really scared of Muggles, whatever some pureblood supremacists pushing the scary Muggle security threat imply they should feel. /ramble
Just a drive-by comment to say you've improved my morning! I expect I'll be back sometimes to check on your artwork, and any other things you post on HP (I'm mono-fandom) in particular.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my icons and browsing my LJ. :) I'm not that active in HP, except as a reader, but recently contemplated to perhaps draw some HP fanart in the future, hence the Auror robe question. Though considering how much of a lazy slacker fan I am in general, and how intimidating the amount of fanart and its quality in HP fandom is, I'm not sure yet whether I will actually produce anything. (It's not so much that I'm to shy to post crappy or mediocre things I draw, but the feeling that there's already so much great stuff that's really unnecessary to draw HP art in the first place.)
