this week's Everwood...
Overall I liked this week's ep with the Irv flashbacks better than last week's, which I found had medical crises for too many characters.
Also I'm seriously wondering whether one of the major arcs of the fifth season -- had it ever happened -- would have been Ephram discovering he's gay or bisexual. Because, watching that Ephram & Amy flashback, what teenage boy tells the girl he has still a crush on, even if they aren't together now, that he's girlier than her?!? And apparently he doesn't call back girls who are interested in him either (though I guess that could also have been meant to indicate that he wants to get back together with Amy still). And of course there was the whole Kyle thing this season, not to mention presumed-gay-but-not-really Reid.
As an aside, I bet back when Ephram visited Kyle in New York a he dragged Kyle into gay youth centers or something like that with the best pushy, meddling intentions to get Kyle to feel more comfortable with his sexuality or something. And of course the result would be Ephram totally fitting in with the gay (while perhaps being somewhat oblivious to that fact), whereas Kyle might not find Ephram's support project that enjoyable...
My favorite bit in the ep though was the flashback with Irv and Bright, when Irv drags Bright out of the military recruitment center.

That would make so much sense to me. I mean, Ephram has always read as kinda queer (he had pink hair in the pilot episode, c'mon), but it's been... really obvious this season, what with his obsession with getting a girl he can't have and the whole Reid and Kyle thing. I mean, the Kyle thing--that was just a *blatant* parallel, you know?

Well, at the end of the ep last week Irv had a heart attack and it turned out this week that he died, so we got these flashback of people remembering him. The other medical storyline last week was that Rose thought her cancer was back (because of a bruise or something) but then some scan showed it actually wasn't. The third medical crisis was that Amy and Ephram took out Bright for his 21st birthday, Bright played pool one-armed (he still had that cast) and drunk, and stumbled backwards through some window and actually had to be hospitalized for some head trauma (I found that storyline just completely stupid), however Hannah came to visit him in the hospital after her date with the Australian exchange dude, but thankfully Bright and Hannah didn't get back together this week.
When exactly did you stop watching? I have a bit trouble aligning the events chronological. Other important recent stuff were Edna meeting Irv's daughter Cassie when they went on that book tour, the Abbot's adoption plans not working out because Rose mentions her cancer because she's unaware Harold omitted on the forms, the Andy/Jake/Nina complications, with Jake asking Nina to move to LA with him, the whole Bright/Hannah cheating and breakup drama...

It doesn't surprise me that Bright cheated on Hannah, and I'm glad they're broken up, but--damn. I'll bet it was written completely as 'Bright cheated because he is a HORRIBLE PERSON and Hannah is TOO GOOD FOR HIM BECAUSE SHE IS A SAINT', though. Bah. *hugs Bright*
Thanks for attempting to summarize; very noble of you. *g* Are Ephram and Amy back together?

And Amy and Ephram aren't back together.
