looking for SGA fanfic with aliens... (interesting, not merely sex-obsessed ones *g*)

Somehow my google-fu and other search skills must be lacking, because I'd like to find certain kinds of SGA stories, but can't figure out an effective combination of google keywords or the right tags for searching on del.icio.us and such.

I'm looking for stories in which either an alien culture features prominently somehow, preferably if it's explored, but if one of the culture's aspects works as a plot device in an unusual way (and not just for the "aliens made them do it" genre, which is often indexed as such in link lists and tags and easier to find anyway) that's okay too, or stories in which they have first contact with non-human(oid) aliens, or stories doing both.

Examples for what I mean in the first category would be stories like (in no particular order):

The machinery of heaven by flambeau
Your Cowboy Days Are Over by samdonne (that one also has non-human aliens)
The Body Holographic by Leah and springwoof

Also I can't find the link to the most recent one I've read, which was on ff.net and not the most brilliantly written, but it had John being kept as children's pet by dinosaur people, so what's not to like? (ETA: I meant this one.)

BTW if you know of stories in which either John or Rodney is an alien, that would be great too. I mean stories like:

Angels in the Architecture by docmichelle (John's a descended Ancient here, so maybe not technically alen, but it's still cool)
Just as required by liviapenn
An Aesthetic Solitary Thing by eliade (well-written wingfic + tentacles, how can that not be awesome?)

I *think* the author might have some other stories that would fit that criteria too. I haven't had time to read all her work yet.

I would check out Kellifer's fic too. http://kellifer-fic.livejournal.com/ She *may* have some fics that fit that as well. I've read so much SGA fic lately, I may be thinking of someone else though. Good luck! :)

Oh yes, that one qualifies as the kind of story I'm looking for. Unfortunately I've already read it (I think I even commented), so it doesn't help me find new SGA reading material with aliens. But if I ever get around to compiling compiling that themed SGA recs post (where there would be actual story descriptions and such *g*) that so far I've been too lazy to write, it'd be definitely on it.

Sometimes I really regret that the thematic lists maintained in SGA tend to be pairing-specific, I'm so used to the ones from HP fandom where they're usually all inclusive unless the theme is about a particular character or pairing, which are much more convenient for me. (I mean, obviously I can't really complain, since it's not as if I was maintaining any either, but it still would be nifty if someone else would be doing the work of sorting through stories for me. *g*)

And yeah, character and pairing lists for minor characters are more common, but I haven't seen something like the McShep thematic list just including gen and other pairings, where I can go and look for pre-Atlantis stories, or Ancient tech stories, or whatever.

I know frogspace's Speppard-centric recs list, but I haven't found any thematic lists in her LJ. In wildgreentide's LJ I found a link to her del.icio.us bookmarks, which are tagged with themes. Do you mean that, or does she maintain a list post/page besides those?

Are you interested in shorter things (drabbles/ficlettes) and/or WIP? I'm not sure how much 'plotty' you desire in your cross-cultural interaction fics, but I've got a few drabbles that might qualify. And the WIP has an alien as a main supporting character, so you get alien biology and sociology in that one. ^_~
