I just love public transportation
NOT. Okay, maybe it wasn't the transportation company's fault that they had some sort of incident causing acrid smoke in one of their underground tunnels at the central station, but that didn't change that I had to take the bus home, which took several times as long as the train would have. I don't even have any idea what happened, because I certainly wasn't among the people who headed into the direction of the smoke from that frelling metro tunnel. I mean, I was going down the first escalator into that section of the central station, started to head across the intermediate level towards my direction when I saw the train in my direction on the level below me stop, the passengers leaving it rather hurriedly (though neither hurt nor really panicked) and smoke coming from that direction. As soon as I saw that I turned around and headed above ground with the rest of the sensible people. It didn't look like a huge emergency, when I left there wasn't even an emergency announcement on the loudspeakers yet, but still it is a rather dumb idea to stick around in a tunnel two levels down that is starting to fill with smoke for whatever reason. Anyway, assuming that the whole traffic on that line would be stopped for at least some time, I didn't even try the metro at another station, hence the bus travel.
Well, it could have been worse, I guess, after all being delayed is still far better than being inside a burning/smoldering/whatever metro train. These are the times when I think about switching to a bicycle...
