Notes: I tried drawing completely with a tablet for the first time, which turned out to be much harder than expected, so for practice I started drawing with a photo as guide for posture and then added costumes, changing hair and faces a bit and such, rather than sketching directly without tracing anything. The underlying photo base I started from was this gay wallpaper.

And yeah, I hope so too. It would be neat to be able to do more with my tablet, but before I always kept doing a pencil sketch first because it's easier than to get used to the tablet. Though I also kind of hope I'll have a desktop again (with which my scanner will then work) in the not too far future. The main problem is that the desktop needs to be kind of cheap, but I'm too lazy to really look for the best bargains. Also my rat Ben needs antibiotics right now, so that's a bunch of vet visits this month adding expenses too, so I may be stuck without being able to scan for a bit longer. I don't know yet.

Lord, I love the finished product. They're so wrapped in each other, like -- emotionally? I suppose. Moreso than in the original there's a sense of focus as much as/more than *pose*. They're in that position because it's the best one they can manage on their way to other best-possible positions. I think I'm also in love with how well you manage to get across the difference between human and metahuman *strength*. Tim's power is all very *purposeful*, you know how he got it. Kon, on the other hand, seems like a normal teenager blessed with serious mojo in the gene pool. Mmm, yum.

I'm glad you like it. I think just making it visibly characters we know instead of just two random guys automatically adds expression in our perception, because it just has more layers when you look at something with characters rather than bodies in mind.

That's why personally I really like drawing superheroes in their costumes more than having them naked even in my slashy fanart, because it makes sure they are present as the characters immediately for the viewer (and myself). Well, that I have a slight armor/weapons fetish doesn't hurt either (visually I find them just hotter in costume or partial costume than just naked *g*).

thete1 commented, you've really managed to convey the differences in their strength. It is so clear how intensily Tim is pulling and handling Kon, whereas Kon is simply holding on very carefully, his hands resting on Tim. This picture feels like a freezed moment of a very dynamic scene.

Well, I admit I actually like Kon's hair from that time better than his later very short hair. And hey, it could be worse, he could have had a mullet... But I'm glad you like it.

Oh, this is fantastic. I'm in love with all the detail you put into it, Kon's earring and his silly belts and the ridges on Tim's gauntlets and his sleeve. Plus, mmm, hot. This reminded me why I love them. :)

I actually first thought of doing a Tim/Kon picture when a while ago (early February? also OMG it is March already, where did the year go??) you asked for stuff to cheer you up what with your job stress then, and thought, hey, Zee likes Tim/Kon, maybe I could do something with that... Only I suck and take forever with these things with my general inertia not helping matters, so lots of time passed and I felt kind of weird to connect it to some thread in your LJ that happened ages ago in LJ time terms.

As others have commented, one of my favorite aspects of this is the differences in their strengths.

Also, Tim abandoned enough to open up like that is always a lovely sight. And Kon is just as adorable as he should be.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I wasn't aware that YJ-era Kon gets less attention. I think his costume is more fun to draw. And yeah, the tablet is kind of difficult, mostly because it's so different from working on paper that you can turn around and stuff.

Wow, I think that might be the hottest Tim's uniform has ever looked. I love their hands, they're so sexily positioned and almost make the drawing seem to move. 2 little critiques (and the drawing is fantastic so feel free to ignore me, I just know I like input when I post stuff): I think Kon's red could be deeper, it's a little on the coral-pink side (at least on my monitor) which seems un-Konlike, and I think their skin colors should be reversed. Timmy's the geek-in-the-night, Kon's the Hawaiian boy, I've always imagined Kon to be much tanner than Tim. But again, that's just me, this is awesome. :)

And thanks for your comments about the color. I thought about the red in Kon's uniform, and I actually took the color from a couple of scans of panels with Kon, averaging the red of his costume, which in that page scan seemed rather bright and vibrant. And then I filled it into my drawing, and I had a thought similar to yours, and for control sampled Superman's cape in another page scan, and well, the red was more or less like that too, though in my picture there is the later effect I applied of the overall grey background which washed out Kon's colors a bit more than Tim's I think, because Tim's costume was already not a clear color but one broken by black and white. I think the effect is also stronger because I made Tim's costume a more muted but darker red than it really is in the comics (it's a quirk, I think he feels more like a Batfamily person like that, even though commonly in canon it's a brighter costume), and it makes you perceive the red differently. And yeah, I can see your point about Kon's tan, and I actually don't know what the canon on this is, but my reasoning for this was that I imagine Superman rather stereotypical fair and by extension think the same of Kon, because I can't really imagine them tanning like regular humans would, what with the Kryptonian deal of converting sunlight into superpowers. Also I I wanted the overall color effect of making Robin darker and Superboy lighter in their colors.

OH WOW that is amazing, like. I love that there's so much intensity and teenagery lustiness in this, I feel almost bad staring so blatantly at them, ahaha. I love that Kon is all old school and yet still so very incredibly adorable. His pert little bum! And Tim looks, like. Well, Tim. Which I love, because it's not just the costume that makes him Tim, it's the way you drew his face. His neat hair and growing jawline and slight frown to his eyebrow. Perfect!

I adore this. I adore all the little details and the way Tim is casually unfastened, as though the kissing is far more important than the undressing at this point.

I also like Tim's bulk here - it's the type of muscular a Bat must have, I think. He doesn't look *tiny* here, which is a mistake sooo many (canon) artists make. He's not a Dick or Bruce, but he is not *tiny.*

And I love their contrasts here - everything from Kon's impatient grasp of Tim's shirt vs. Tim's confident grip to Tim's darkness vs. Kon's lightness to the differences in strength. It all works wonderfully, especially backdropped against the similarity of the expressions on Kon and Tim's faces - it just makes the differences so much more wonderful.

And yeah, I agree that comics!Tim shouldn't be tiny, he's not like the toon character, and he trains really hard after all. And from what I see of teenagers that age really into training, they definitely have some bulk already. And I'm happy that you think I'm managed to make their characters come through.
