I got a good picture of Emil, but Ignatz still hasn't come out of the tube he's been hiding and sleeping in, so the photo isn't that great.



ETA: I actually got the photos switched around, the one in the house is Emil, so I corrected the entry. *headdesk*

They are. I'm not quite in the right mindset yet to appreciate their cuteness, because I'm still tense and closer to a nervous breakdown with every squeak (and unfortunately small rats squeak quite a lot, every time they're nervous or startled or want placate a stronger rat etc etc)

They *are* very cute. Unfortunately every time I see Emil or Ignatz and hear squeaking I have flashbacks (well not quite actual flashbacks, but still) to Gonzo's little broken and bleeding body, even though so far Krümel has been okay and mostly patient with them, and the little ones taunt him quite a bit. It's just Gonzo was the same dark gray as Emil, just with a larger white spot on his belly, so they remind me a lot of Krümel's late brother. I am a bit calmer now that there has been a fair amount of genital sniffing and licking and submissive gestures that Krümel acknowledged (so his four months as a solitary rat at least don't seem to have stunted him too badly socially), but still.

Oh, they're so cute! I love how comfortable Ignatz looks, like "Don't mind me, I'm just hanging out in this tube."

Yeah, they love tubes. I've never met a rat that didn't. There's divided opinion among them on hammocks, even on baskets (though hanging baskets are almost universally popular) and styles of rodent houses, but they all love tubes.

They are. Except when they are squabbling with each other, squeaking and scuffling loudly (sending me into anxious fits what caused the ruckus, which half of the time doesn't involve Krümel at all) or pestering Krümel until he puts his foot down, leading to more squeaking. Earlier this morning after I awoke from yet another squabble noise Krümel practically leapt into my arms just to get away from them, or so it seemed to me. But then I can understand how he didn't get much sleep, I mean, I didn't either. Still, no bloodshed or wounds, though no harmonic snuggling yet that I've seen either, so they're still working on their new social order and arrangements I suspect.
