Notes/comments: This is an illustration for Trinityofone's SGA/HDM story Dæmonology, John and Teyla and their respective dæmons are sparring with each other, while Ronon's and Rodney's dæmons watch (these two themselves are somehow offscreen). The story itself is McKay/Sheppard slash, but the picture is very much gen.

The faint, yet still annoying line in the middle where the colors don't quite match is there because the paper of the original is of a larger format than my scanner, so I had to scan it in two parts, and didn't manage to make them fit perfectly.

astridv helped me fix some perspective and relative size and positioning problems in an earlier pencils sketch of this. The illustration is much better for it. Any remaining problems however are my fault.

Oh, this is beautiful. I love the way the posture of John and Teyla's daemons echoes the posture of John and Teyla in the sparring match. Lovely.

This is wonderful! I agree with kassrachel - I noticed the echoing postures, too! Grins! There's a great feel of movement in your picture - for Teyla and John as well as their daemons, and even for the two daemons looking on! I find it hard to understand how you manage to give that impression that they're in motion, watching, etc. It's incredibly well done!

Thank you, I'm so glad it works for you, as it was one of my most complicated pieces with so many characters in it. As for how to find a the right posture to convey a movement while static, mostly it's a lot of trial and error for me. I do a ton of stick figure drawings, fiddling with the posture to figure out what looks okay.

And I'm not sure whether the question was serious or not, but in case you are one of the few in SGA fandom who haven't read that story, it has Rodney with the mouse dæmon.

I never read the daemon series the story crossed over with, but nevertheless it's friggin' brilliant.
I kinda guessed that the mouse was Rodney's, but thought it'd be really ironic if Ronon had the mouse and Rodney the wolf. Seemingly opposites, and yet apt in some ways, too.

I love this! Daemonology is one of my favorite stories of all time, and this is a lovely illustration for it. I adore the tension in the central figures and their daemons, and the perspective from Tyk and Imara's point of view. Wonderful!
