rat worries

I just noticed that Krümel hasn't come out at all tonight during playtime, though I did see him eat briefly. And he's getting quieter with age but not that quiet, so I checked on him, and I saw that his left back foot is badly swollen. I didn't see an obvious wound, so I don't know what it is. He squeaks when I touch him there anyway and can't really walk. So I guess it'll be a vet trip first thing tomorrow. I hope he'll be okay until then. *is worried*

Thanks. I'm slightly reassured that he still hobbled out to get food, unsteady on just three legs (and they use the back feet more to get around) but he even slowly made it up one level on stairs, and his appetite seems still there, also the limb doesn't look terribly wrong as far as I could tell just swollen, so I hope it's not too dire. I guess it might be an abscess inside or maybe he just sprained the foot somehow. But he's also getting elderly, and rats are small and fragile.
