futurefic recs

I've toyed with the idea of a futurefic recs page a couple of times, but never really managed properly collect enough recs at once to make starting a page worthwhile, while at the same time remembering all futurefic I liked in recent years more systematically seemed daunting. Now I decided to just start with a post in my LJ picking some at random, and maybe create a page later (or not). So because I went through my bookmarks looking for futurefic I remembered liking, some are older stories, others recent.

Harry Potter

Squib, by Kestrelsparhawk. Slash, Harry/Draco. (ca. 52,000 words)
It's been a while since I read this so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but I remember really enjoying it. It is a long, plotty story with Harry as a parent, and I especially liked the magical theory here.

Merlin

Mount Badon, by Betty. Gen. (ca. 3,380 words)
I really like the outsider POV here, showing Arthur and Merlin and a glimpse of how Arthur is building his kingdom.

Walking into Legend, by Lesserstorm. Slash and het, Merlin/Arthur, Gwen/Lancelot. (ca. 11,700 words)
This combines established Arthurian Legend elements with the Merlin version, and I liked how their friendship got them all a happier ending than in the traditional version, yet in many ways their "public" cover story would fit with that.

Stargate: Atlantis

Eternity, by Kriadydragon. Het, John Sheppard/OFC. (ca. 29,350 words)
Atlantis as an exploration ship is just cool.

Beginnings, by Riva. Gen. (ca. 928 words)
This story is a bit older, and now this possible future is rather jossed by canon, but I always thought the Ori would have had great success in the Pegasus galaxy.

Panthalassa and its sequel Pangeneses, by Sapote3. Slash and het, Rodney McKay/Laura Cadman, Rodney McKay/John Sheppard. (ca. 14,500 words and 16,000 words)
This is kidfic with a twist, and especially in the sequel I liked to see the future of Pegasus after the Wraith and its struggles.

Salve regina, by Sarah T. John Sheppard/Teyla Emmagan. (ca. 6,495 words)
This has a bit of a creepy premise for the future, but I liked it.

Who's Left and Who's Leaving, by the_drifter. Gen. (ca. 9,500 words)
This story is a bit heart-wrenching, because the team leaves Atlantis behind, but I like all kinds of stories in which expedition members decide to stick with Pegasus and settle there.
