So when they did the autopsy of the dead cop, they said they could tell he was vegetarian because his body fat was white rather than yellow? Is that even true? Why would vegetarians' fat be a different color?
That doesn't seem right, since milk fat and body fat (of cows, at least) turns yellow because of increased greenery in the diet. I believe that the yellow pigmentation is due to xanthophylls and carotin in the green diet.
I thought it sounded odd too. What you say makes sense. Though I don't think normal human vegetarians would eat enough of that kind of greenery in relation to other food stuffs to have yellower fat either, because unlike cows humans eat so many different things. Like grains obviously, which I assume would then cause the desired whiter fat in cows while they are fattened for slaughter.
