I know it's the season to worship hares and bunnies, but we should all remember that these are not the cutest rodents around (and yes, I know that technically rabbits and hares are not rodents, and that their teeth configuration is different etc. etc. -- still):

Yes, and they would totally work as fertility symbol as well. And okay, they wild ones eat our stuff, but so do rabbits! Though I suspect rats would not bring any Easter eggs, but eat them themselves, because eggs are their favorite thing.

I especially love the group photo. There's a certain air of somebody wanting to snarf the camera just to be extra, extra sure no crumbs got involved with picture taking by mistake.

Yeah, at least he only got as far as making his nose a bit blurry in the picture. A really high percentage of my attempted rat photos are useless because they only contain a rat nose about to be pressed against the camera. Or if you try from further away, some partial rat tail, because the rat ran out of the picture towards the camera...

Welcome! I often wish I had a video camera, because I almost never manage to get their interesting actions on camera, because I'm too slow, and my camera is a dinky cheap digital one that takes quite a while to react and focus too.

My rats have drama, like awesome boxing matches with kickboxing mixed (sometimes even fur flies, thankfully nothing bloody *knocks on wood*) and they chase each other around too, I'm just never fast enough with my camera when there's conflict.

They have special cuteness powers. I still remember how my first won over my mom who was rather afraid of rats initially (but never even thinking of them as pets had only forbidden snakes and spiders, besides the cats and dogs that weren't allowed in the apartment's lease). Apparently when she was little, shortly after WWII in less than ideal living situations, some baby cousin once removed of hers got bitten by rats while asleep, so my mom had this horror monster image of them. A few months under a rat's charm got that cleared up, though she kept insisting that the tails were ugly. That didn't stop her from spoiling my rats with extra treats though...
