Notes/comments: This was done for the trekreversebang challenge, and tinocka wrote a story, In Marsh and Desert, for this painting that you all should check out. astridv gave some helpful input on the perspective at the pencil stage, however any remaining problems are my fault. This is the first time I tried to just do a painting based on my pencils, rather than do inked lineart first, so it is somewhat of a deviation from my usual style. I hope it still works. The original painting is A3, and I included some hi-res details in addition to the screen sized picture to give a better impression of how it looks in reality. The thing took forever to paint, so I kind of want to show off the amount of work that went into it. (If anyone wants the whole image in 300dpi I can mail the file, but it's about 4.3mb.) ETA: I've made a process post about this painting.

Wow- *very* cool! Really nice job with the perspective and proportions. I especially admire the steps- it's always tough for me to keep lines like that straight. I dig the statues, too.

Thank you. I'm glad the expressions come across. Even at A3 the faces ended up tiny, so every misplaced brushstroke had a huge impact, and I cursed a lot. I understand better and better why paintings often are huge. Of course with larger formats the scanning is even worse piecemeal.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that the Vulcan atmosphere works for you. I didn't stick precisely with any of the Vulcan designs we've seen in canon but combined stuff from TOS, the movies, STXI, and Enterprise in some sort of amalgam, so it's reassuring to hear that it works for others too.

I´ve told you before, but let me tell you again: It´s so beautiful! I love it so much - the colors, the expressions, the details! :)

I am not sure I did it a justice with my story, but I had a lot of fun :) It felt wonderful to be able to write for something so beautiful and amazing :)

Wow, I can't believe that I didn't comment on this yet. The line art was one of my favorites and I had such a hard time choosing between this piece and another. But this is amazing. Your attention to detail is crazy.
