this all sucks

Apparently Yahoo is planning to shutdown delicious and have already gotten rid of all the delicious employees, so maybe that it is not working right for me is already due to degrading infrastructure?

And the other bookmark service I used fannishly, Simpy, (well once upon a time I bookmarked fanart there because they had better tag operators than delicious, but it had been flaky so I drifted away) shut down earlier this year, as I only now noticed. They didn't even sent users an email or anything, so I didn't export my bookmarks from there. Thankfully that were only a couple not the 5800+ I store on delicious. :(

Also SGU was cancelled. And even though I would have rather had SGA, I still watched SGU. I'm not that broken up about it being cancelled, but I'm not gleeful that it's gone either.

Oh, sucks about delicious. Good to know in time, though. I saved my delicious bookmarks as html pages for now, so at least I have copies.

Haven't watched SGU yet but ironically from what I heard, it sounded like it was just getting interesting.

My first thought when I heard about SGU being cancelled is that I kinda hope not to see a whole big slew of celebratory posts on my flist (so far, I haven't), because I know there are people out there for whom it's "their show", like SGA was my show (well, me and a million other fangirls, but you know what I mean), and as much as it sucks to have your show be cancelled, it must suck even worse when your show gets cancelled and everyone is glad.

Personally I think I'm actually sort of relieved, because with every season that went by and every new behind-the-scenes thing I heard from one source or another, the more it dimmed my warm memories of the previous shows. I wanted to like the show more than I did, and then I wanted to stop watching but I kept getting drawn back. So I'm relieved to just have it taken out of my hands and be able to put the Stargate franchise in the "shows I liked that are no longer with us" box.

ETA: Delicious, on the other hand ... oh my god that sucks -- for you and all the other people who are going to have to rebuild your bookmarks, and for fandom in general. I was just starting to learn to use it for fic-finding in the last couple of years, and to build up a collection of my own bookmarks. How frustrating. I wish there was some way that it could be maintained as an archive, even if it wasn't possible to add new stuff to it.

I made a Diigo account last night. Looks like a decent alternative. However I think the importing-from-delicious feature is either really slow right now - wouldn't be surprising, with everybody switching over at once - or it didn't work. I'm gonna try again.

That was my first thought as well. And I have several people on my friends list who like that show. I intend to give SGA fandom a wide bearth for the next week or so. Wider than usual, I mean. There was a lot of dancing on the grave when Angel was cancelled... it was not pleasant to look at.

[eta: ah, I mean wide berth. Which is a nautical term, I just learned...]

Do you remember how long it took? I started mine last night and this morning there was still nothing, so I sent another request. Hope I won't end up with doubles.

I'm kinda sad to see SGU gone. It was never going to be my favourite Stargate show, but I was starting to enjoy season two ( well, before I left the US anyway), and it would've been nice to see the full story play out, maybe. I am curious as to whether Syfy will put any money upwards movies now, though.

Towards, not upwards. Sigh. Stupid iphone word predictor...

In all fairness, that might have had more to do with MGM's money woes and the whole economic crisis than anything else. Or not. Who knows.

It's aggravating that, yet again, the end of the series is announced before the show has a chance to wrap things up properly. Season 2 is probably going to end on a humdinger of a cliffhanger. :-(

Do you have a recommendation?

I really love the tag bundling on delicious. One can't export bundles, but I saved an html page with all the bundles open, so that it won't be as hard to recreate them somewhere else. (Of course, I exported the links, tags, and notes.) Do you know of a site that has tag bundling?

Thanks, I'll give it a look.
