I decided my existing X-Men icons of Cyclops and Wolverine aren't really suitable for X-Men First Class, and that I needed an Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto icon. The only problem is that I'm not sure whether to icon Magneto!RatCreature with the helmet, which has the advantage of being recognizable, but otoh helmets don't work that well with the ears, and look always silly, or Erik!RatCreature, which is less easily recognized, but fits better with XMFC and whose look I prefer. So which do you like better for an icon?

oooh. I agree that the first is more appropriate and I like it better, but I suspect when it's shrunk to icon size, the details that make it so identifiable--the particular line of the eyes and scrunched nose, the wrinkles on the turtleneck, the hair--might be less so. Definitely worth an attempt though, it's awesome.

I like the other one too, though, just not quite as much. And I think the ears work great with the helmet!

At least Magneto!RatCreature's helmet can't fall off or be taken easily once he managed to squeeze the ears through... (I don't actually know whether that ever happens to comic Magneto.)

oh man, I hope it has. It would be AMAZING.

I suppose in the normal course of events he holds it onto his head with his magnetic powers as reflex, and that's why there doesn't seem to be a chinstrap or anything like that. But surely moments of distraction could happen when he gets thrown across the room by some energy blast or something.

Prefer the helmeted Magneto for easy identification, and the ears don't look that silly! But Eric rat is cute and if you exaggerate his hair slightly more it might give the helmet effect -- and you could draw his hand flat, so it's clear that the ring has not been tossed -- it will useful for those occasions when you want to emphasize your amazing mutant powers.

Heh, that's supposed to be his trauma-representing coin, not a ring, which I suppose would be clearer colored, because then the whole would be a solid gray.
