So apparently I've missed some sort of kerfuffle/fallout between the mods of 1stclass_kink? Could someone fill me in? I've only noticed because some of the threads I'm following have replies that link to c&p's ongoing prompts to one of the other kink memes, because they are worried about flounce deletions of the whole comm...

Is that likely? I know neither mods nor the kerfuffle, so I can't gauge. Should I be saving copies of my favorite stories on the meme that are not anywhere else as to not potentially loose them, even though it is such a hassle to save comments, especially with long stories where you need to expand comments? Also is there an easier way to save long, nested LJ pages?

The creator of the comm has been pretty wanky and childish from the beginning, apparently, although I haven't had much patience for the politics of posting at one meme vs. another that's cropped up either.

I find it difficult enough to find and follow stories on kink memes, the wanky threads and fandom politics always sail completely over my head, because I only track story threads. So I only notice if the spill-over is really bad.

Yeah, I don't even really trawl kinkmemes on my own anymore, I just wait for other people to rec finished stories :D Lazy people unite! I only had those links on hand because of friends of friends, although I will confess to thinking the drama is hilarious.

True. Though really comms in general are just hazardous to mods for creating wank, even without inclination to it.

I mean, I mod one small, low traffic comm, and I had instances where I somehow managed to offend a member and had them leave in a huff, and I wasn't even aware we were apparently having a kerfuffle in our exchanges from their POV. Admittedly, I'm not the most socially perceptive person, also there tends to be culturally different views of what is considered "polite" in discussion and behavior between here in Germany and the US or other places, so that adds difficulties especially without being f2f for clarifications. (I remember back in the mailing list days people would talk about previous lively discussions and refer to some as "flame wars" and I'd be like "flame war? what flame war?" even though I was on the same list.)

I sometimes wonder whether I'm doing fandom wrong that I always feel so out of the loop, even though I spend quite a lot of time involved with a fandom.

Well, I'm in the process of c&p'ing my favorites that I don't have another link for by slowly going through my delicious account. But clearly that's not efficient, and won't help the vast majority of archived stuff. I really hope it won't come to flounce deletions. I mean, it would be far more reputation suicidal on the remaining mod's part than just being seen as somewhat wanky as seems to be the case now. And they said they wouldn't delete.

Still, who knows. I mean, I've seen whole archives vanish due to kerfuffles (I vaguely recall that one day one Harry/Ginny archive I used to visit was just gone, and I later found out that there was some wank going on, iirc), and lists deleted, so it's always worrisome when people with control over infrastructure get embroiled in things.
