I accidentally inverted the color of my Firefox tabs

Does anyone know how to undo this? I must have pressed the wrong key combination, but I don't know what I pressed (I wanted to press Ctrl+T to open an new tab), and now instead of dark on light my Firefox tabs except the active one have light writing on dark background. It's a bit disorienting. I can't find a corresponding setting in the menu.

I can't find any variable in the about:config that looks like it is for the tab bar color.

The internet thinks it's Windows Key + M or N, depening on whether you also changed other windows besides Firefox.

It's not a fix for Firefox itself (can't help there) but you can specify tab background & text colours using the Tab mix plus add-on, which might work as a temporary fix until you work out the core problem.

Yeah, an extension to color tabs would fix this. But seriously, this is ridiculous. I don't want colored tabs, I just want them as they were before. Why did they have to install cryptic keyboard combination pitfalls that can ambush you? And then not even have a menu option to reset this. WTF.

Totally agree. It seems bizarre that there's even a keyboard shortcut to change tab colour. Just... why would you ever need that?

yeah, I don't know either. Maybe it spontaneously decided to invert colors, and I just imagine it coincided with me pressing something. But always my tabs were light gray with black text, like all the other toolbars, urlbars, status bars etc. and then suddenly all tabs but the active one are dark gray with white text.

I can see why someone might like to have this color scheme (except in the sticky tabs it's now hard to see the color change that shows that new emails arrived in my gmail), but I want the light gray back.

Hmm, you just made me wonder if it's an accessibility thing. You didn't do something to change any of your computer's accessibility/vision impaired usability options, by any chance?

The only other thing I can think of is that something happened to change your browser theme? Changing themes has changed my tab background before.

Last question (probably obvious, but it's always the last thing I want to try). Have you tried restarting firefox in safe mode? That will at least tell you if an add-on might be to blame.

I have the default theme, afaik. I could maybe try to install one or deinstall it or something. Maybe that would reset the tab settings. I'm not aware of any accessibility changes. There was a Firefox automated update not that long ago, but I don't think that caused the color switch and I just didn't notice for a day and half. Safe-mode doesn't fix the problem. I'd try reset, but then I'd loose all my beautifully sorted tab groups that I use to keep track of fanfic to read.

Yeah, reset is definitely a last resort. :( Maybe it will fix itself (after all, it seems to have broken itself to begin with).

In the meantime, I'd recommend the temporary fix with the add-on and also recommend another add on Session Manager which allows you to export sessions, meaning you could save those tab groups and reload them after a reset/re-installation (I think, I'd test that first just to be sure).

I've found a CSS file in the profile/chrome folder with which you can override the interface default colors.
