a question about LJ tags

In general I like and appreciate the tag feature. It certainly makes it easier to catch up with just specific posts after a longer absence, if someone uses them, and is easier than using the memory function, if I want to read all posts related to a tag, not just one specific post. What puzzles me however is, how some people use tags consisting of several words with spaces inbetween, and those don't work for me, no matter which journal I try to click on one of those. When experimenting with tags in my LJ I also noticed that there is no problem creating and assigning such tags, but they won't work afterwards. The tag will link to an URL of the type ".../tag/word1+word2" and I get an error page "Sorry, one or more specified tags do not exist." Is this a temporary bug and these multiple word tags did work at some point? Is it just me and they work for other people? Or have people who assign these tags just never tried to use them, and are unaware of the tags malfunctioning?

I've seen quite a few different people commenting on the multi-word tags being faulty right now. The assumption is that they'll be fixed, and soonish - as opposed to the general feeling of the Memories errors, which seems to be msotly "Hey, remember that time those things worked? Yeah, those were the days."

Good to hear that there's hope. :) See, I haven't been using LJ much the last couple of months, so I missed the initial introduction of the feature. It makes sense that people have multi-word tags if they used to work.

It's a bug -- it used to work, and hopefully will again soon.

I shall be patient then. It's just that because of my somewhat longer absence the feature is still new to me, and it's been puzzling seeing all those tags that don't work.

Definitely used to work. I hadn't realised they weren't working. *eyes ridiculous tag list* I might have to get serious about using tags one day soon, but ... meh. :D

I think tags are a real improvement over just having the memories function. You know, when I saw that they had implemented them I was all "squee! it's like Movable Type categories! something good came from Six Apart taking over LJ" and then I noticed half of the tags people assigned weren't working. Talk about being disillusioned quickly...
