I totally suck at costume design. I've tried like forever to produce a good visual of Tim as Avatar from thete1's Intimates series, and it's been incredibly frustrating. More than once I wished I could just go with Jason's mocking and draw him as Condom Boy and be done with it (btw back in December when I drew that scribble as a result of being totally frustrated with goggles and what not, I happened to be in the underground and of course the little girl next to me had to choose that moment to stand up on her seat and look at my sketchbook...).

Anyway, I'm still not happy with the costume but I decided to just post the pencils I liked best so far and settle for that. I'll post a colored version soon(ish).

I'm glad you like it. =) I tried drawing costumes that covered the whole face, but those attempts always looked ridiculous (OTOH after trying to draw this stuff I understood Jason's reasons to mock so much better... *g*)

Robins just don't *get* to make fun of other people's costumes that often. ONE HAS TO TAKE THOSE CHANCES WHEN THEY COME.

(And really, I had way too much fun trying to come up with an honestly uncool yet practical costume.)

I am just NOT GETTING OVER how perfectly Avatar that is. GOD. I didn't even think about cowl-decoration, but of COURSE he'd have Oracle's. *FLAIL*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That the cowl should have the design from Oracle's virtual face was the one thing I was certain about with the costume, because he is *avatar* after all, and in the stories they sort of mix with each other in these disturbing (and hot *g*) ways, so I wanted to show that bleed-over visually.

Lovechild?! Heh, I never thought of them and their work with/on Tim in those terms... o.O

I'm happy you like my interpretation of Avatar though. =)
