much squee...

First, since [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine was encouraging vid recs recently, I'd like to point out that [livejournal.com profile] lim's vid for the [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic mission report challenge is great. It's the first time I've seen a vid where someone wrote a song telling the story and then sung it illustrated by a vid. Admittedly I haven't watched that many vids, so this could be totally common, but even then it would still be awesome. I just really like vids where the narrative isn't that opaque, I guess.

Also take a look at [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty's DC comics vid You Gotta Have Boobs, which is hilarious.

Then there was this week's SGA episode which made me squee a lot as well. Just-- John! *hearts*

First there's the bonding with the Wraith and their temporary truce, and the Wraith actually protects John. And then the Wraith declares John his brother! And they both honor their deal, and John drops him off on a planet with darts... so much squee.

I like that the Wraith are steadily getting kind of more sympathetic and complex, to the viewers and also to the Atlanteans, but still no real options are there for coexistence or negotiation, seeing how Wraith have to eat humans. (I don't really consider the mad scientist retrovirus an option for the Wraith from their perspective, even if it really worked. I mean, who'd trade many thousands of years of life for a few measly decades?)

Also the Wraith worshiping makes a lot more sense now if they prolong the life of their collaborators and share in some little way what they take from the other humans.

I do wonder though why that Wraith hasn't called the others telepathically. Maybe he was too far away for him alone to reach any or too weakened, but still it has to be really bad luck on his part (or great planning by the Genii) that he's held captive in some area of the galaxy where for years no Wraith came into his telepathic range.

And I liked the symmetry of how here John doesn't give the Wraith a mocking name as with "Steve", whereas the Wraith acknowledges John with his name, even though he still feeds from him.
