this week's Numb3rs
WTF?!? They turned Colby into a Chinese spy?? Just like that? Was there some motivational setup I missed? I mean, people usually have reasons, like ideological opposition to the government they "betray", some kind of twisted personal revenge thing might work also, or even just money problems, something. I just don't get it. I'm not the biggest Colby fan or anything, but this just seemed bizarre and out of the blue? Or maybe I missed something, I'm not the most attentive viewer when it comes to Numb3rs.
It's not that I'm opposed to characters, even those I like, deciding to switch loyalties or just work for themselves or within their own ethical framework (if they are characters that have personal ethics) or be mercenary (if they don't), after all I'm not much into loyalty to countries or governments as entities as a value in itself, but I'd kind of like to understand a character's choices? It's pretty big to have to entirely fanwank, IMO.
And I didn't care much for the flamboyant British spy cliche either.
At least this whole ep makes great fodder for pre-series slash between Colby and his buddy Dwayne, and the epic
