the CSI season opener
Is this just me or was this season opener really boring even by the downwardly adjusted standards of last season? It's not that I minded the "Grissom is afraid to have lost Sarah." stuff per se, I'm mostly okay with Grissom/Sarah shippiness, even like them as a couple, though I think that the way the show handled their relationship was often awful, first with the endless waffling, then the sudden sex among other problems, but what got to me was that nothing really happened in the whole episode except for everyone being all full of angst.
Okay, Sarah and her escape attempt and how she fought for her life were the good parts of the episode that I liked, but otherwise, there was no case mystery just the search, and for me that just wasn't enough. It didn't get any more mysterious or intriguing by being told in disjointed out of order pieces either, which to me mostly felt like a cheap trick to fill out something with too little substance. I would have liked a B-plot with another case at least.
On the bright side, maybe they got the OTT character whumpage out of their system? I mean, with Sarah almost falling victim to the miniature killer I don't think there's a main character left who didn't have major trauma recently.

Also, I can't figure out why Sara thought it was a brilliant idea to wander around in the desert in the daytime. Get to high ground during the flash flood, sure. But don't be walking around in the sun in the 100+F desert! Stick close to the car (which you're pretty sure people will be looking for), stay in the shade (there were some nice large scrubby things with plenty of shade for her to sit in). DUH. This is _basic survival skill stuff_, and I cannot imagine she wouldn't know that.
