I really enjoy your creatures and the way they are so recognizably yours, even while they are also recognizably fannish (like this Uhura one.) Awesome!
It's really important to me that any of my icons instantly communicate that it's me talking, because I like icons to have that portrait function, and yet I wanted to have fannish icons too, so costuming my avatar was the only option for an icon theme. *g*
Thank you! And those are good ideas for Kirk. I guess for the AOS version some bruises might be an option too, I remember him looking somewhat rough and prettily beaten up much of the movie. *g*
I never change the skin color of my avatar because the concept it that it is me dressing up as characters but still me not the character, like you may have noticed that my Ronon and Teyla creatures are white as well as are the Zuko and Aang creatures. Changing the color would be really weird to me, like wearing blackface or something for a costume, which -- just no. The only exception to that approach is my gray alien icon, but that is not a human race and more like a alien mask with the eyes and stuff.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. The Latin singular is insigne, but I don't think that is used in English?
I've always like the different TOS insignia for the command/operation/science branches. My sister had some to sew on clothing (she was a TOS fan as a teenager, so I got some early imprinting done thorugh her).
Caught "Enterprise Incident" last night - the ep where Spock seduces the Romulan commander and Kirk disguises himself as a Romulan -- have you considered a Romulan Kirk?
Due to my cartoon's short legs with big feet sitting poses with visible legs are somewhat less than impressive and dignified *G*, but the command chair is a good idea. And it might be a nice parallel to my Sheppard icon in which I have him sprawled in the Atlantis control chair...

For Kirk... hmm. Captain's chair? Ripped shirt?

For Kirk, I second the captain's chair and would like to add: the TOS spitcurl and a crooked grin.
