has LJ changed the site scheme?

Is it just me or is in the LJ site scheme for comments suddenly the blue background bit shorter, so that the icon appears to be hanging over and everything looks more cramped?

ETA: I just looked at the LJ help page, and they list "Comment pages in some site schemes are displaying incorrectly. LiveJournal staff are investigating." in the Known Issues section. So it seems this isn't intentional at least, and might get fixed. Though how they managed to mess up their default layout for half their schemes (it doesn't show for me in the Horizon scheme, but when I'm logged in and use the old XColibur scheme I cling to, it does, ditto for the light style) without intending to, I don't want to know.

Inconsistencies give me hope that this is just some sort of style sheet bug and will go away again, rather than this being intentionally fugly.

Looks like it. It's really bugging me. I keep flicking back and forth between newly-opened tabs and ones I've had open since yesterday, just to convince myself it's actually changed. Which it has. And it's annoying. Grr. I dare say when the next announcement comes out of news it'll be all self-congratulatory about how they've improved the way threaded comments display...

I was about to say that I'm not sure what you mean, and then I tried the page in light style and went AAAAAA. For me, it's not doing it in the default style, just the light one. You're right, that's ugly as hell. Maybe they were messing around and broke something? It's hard to believe that it's intentional ...

Huh. Maybe it's because I'm still using old XColibur as site scheme that it shows up for me in regular site style but not for you? Either way, this fugly change needs to be rolled back.

Hmm, it looks normal to me.

How odd. I now think it might be because I use XColibur not the newer site skins to display. When I'm logged out and see their Horizon scheme the comment headers look normal. Do you see the change in the light style? That's how comments look for me in XColibur regular site style too.

Hmm... that's weird, when I'm logged out and when I'm logged in and using the light version the layout is as you described, but when I'm logged in with the regular layout it's not.

They must have changed something in the style sheets that apply to both the light and the older site schemes, but aren't used by the new default. I still don't understand why they would do this though.
