I dislike when the two plots don't have anything to do with each other, and the whole island setup was ridiculous, IMO. And the monster hunting plot with Will running into his girlfriend and sabotaging her career was boring. So I found the episode very meh. OTOH, yay for canonical bisexuality. Though I would have thought that Helen would have used her hundred year vacation to maybe have some fun, so the comment that she hadn't been kissed like this in some time was a bit jarring.

I forgive them everything just for those final kisses. I actually squeaked out loud and applauded! Eeeee! The stupid setup was worth it for those few seconds.

With the caveat that I haven't actually watched the show this year, I'm just keeping up with it via spoilers ... is it possible that the writers have actually forgotten about her hundred years already? Because I'd read an interview with someone (Amanda Tapping, maybe or Damian Kindler) where they'd talked about this episode, and said that Helen's a workaholic and she never takes time off, so that's why they wanted to do this episode where we see her take a little time off, the way we've seen some of the other characters on vacation. Especially in light of the part you just quoted, it kinda sounds like either a continuity error or maybe they've decided to pretend the other thing never happened ...?

Yay for canon bisexuality, though. :)

I don't think they have forgotten. IIRC from last week in part she had the extra money and resources to break away from the UN because Helen used the hundred years to prepare. That she now invested this week with this dodgy character she had to meet on the island. So I rather think the idea is that she worked hard that time. But seriously, if you know what happens in a century and have some resources to start with, it is not that hard to make a lot of money and to prepare (even if you didn't pay much attention the first time around you know early enough to buy some Microsoft and other computer stock and know the dates of major stock market crashes in advance so your speculation is rather more risk free, and I suppose as long as you don't do major innovation funding making some money wouldn't be too history disrupting). So I think it's ridiculous that she shouldn't have had time for some fun. Though I guess she might have been ultra careful, again not to disrupt someone's life through a love affair, even a brief one might change things in a ripple effect after all.
