There was a comment later, in the office, where Gunn tells Angel the whole club is completely shut down, which sort of implies not. It looked as if that was going on, and it's unclear whether the gang was all willing to go along with that, or if they all assumed that it was emotional punishment, and they'd fix it later.
I couldn't really make out all of that conversation right before the Sasquatch soup comment (and wasn't that Lorne's new place not an office?). It might be because I'm not a native speaker, but sometimes I find characters on tv hard to understand, they don't always speak very clearly. But it's good to know that they didn't go along with this. I mean, that Angel shot this one commando guy in the head and went all Bullseye with the spoon when he disposed the Necromancer's butler last week is disturbing enough from the standpoint of "good guy ethics" but letting someone get eaten is a bit much.
Actually, you're right it wasn't the office as such, but it was Angel's place, which I think is in the W&H building, so I think of it as still the office, I guess. *g* Really, though, Angel's never been about the not killing, as such, especially when directly threatened, has he?
It's not so much the killing as such, or the ruthlessness, it just feels like, I'm not sure, maybe more casual now? I haven't counted how many humans he's killed before as Angel without missing a beat, so maybe it's all in my head, but he doesn't even seem to try fighting someone and then kill him only as last resort, but to just kill the opponent right away, no matter whether it's a human or not.
Yeah, I'm not absolutely convinced on the "he's not killed humans before!" argument I've seen, but there is a definite change of some sort, either more ruthlessness, or more practicality. It may be that as the only one who remembers the events of the last year, he has a greater determination to get rid of evil and less desire to make allowances. Additionally, with the loss of Cordy and Connor, and nobody around him even remembering Connor, he probably feels more isolated, and more determined than ever to protect those under his care.
