wtf, fruitfly?
I was making myself some banana-oatmeal pancakes for breakfast when a tiny fruitfly decided to commit suicide by flinging itself into the hot butter. So I had to fish a tiny fried insect out of my pan. I guess it was lucky it didn't try to land on the then still soft topside of my pancakes.

I ask, because it sounds delicious. (minus fruitfly)

I used egg, oatmeal, some regular flour, buttermilk, mashed banana and also added some choped walnuts in the batter. The result was quite tasty.

I still remember blanching a broccoli or green cauliflower once (it was in the cabbage family and green) and I ended up killing a whole bunch of camouflaged green caterpillars by shock boiling. That brought home why my mother taught me to let stuff like this lie in water to have hidden insects float out first before use, but after a while of never coming across any I got lax... At least I hadn't used it directly in a sauce, so I could just fish the dead caterpillars out, but I felt really bad about killing them like lobsters.

It died of osmotic stress in the pineapple fruit chunks or the bromelain got it.
