comic question, about DC's Wildstorm label...

I've been thinking about giving comics published under DC's Wildstorm label a try, in particular The Authority TPBs. After browsing the Wildstorm site for a bit I'm still not sure which trade is the first I ought to read, it seems The Authority: Relentless is the first collection, however it also seems like Stormwatch is about (some of?) the same people as Authority, so do I need to read those to understand the Authority series? I'm unsure in general about how the different series in the Wildstorm universe are related. Like, are all titles published under the Wildstorm label (Authority, Planetary, Gen¹³, Sleeper, etc.) set in the same universe, or are they separate?

Totally unrelated, the What Muppet Are You? quiz thinks I'm Rizzo the Rat, which pleases me.

Stormwatch does include the same people, but you can read the Authority independently. The Authority has better stories (and smooches), so get Relentless and see if you like it.

I wish we were in the same country. I have them all and I could just lend you. Unfortunately transatlantic mail is expensive and problematic. :|

Yeah, so true. And in the last years it got much slower too, supposedly because of additional "security," at least when once it took two to three weeks for a package from the US to get here, it now takes four to six, and sometimes even longer. Also I'm not entirely sure anymore that the people delivering my mail can even read, ever since a not quite neighbor (someone living two blocks away) brought me a package that contained my DSL modem, but had been delivered to her place (well not really delivered, she got a delivery card and fetched it from the post office and only afterwards noticed that it wasn't for her), even though we didn't share either street, house number, first or last name (she helpfully suggested that maybe it was because her daughter has the same first name as me, but random package drop off would make more sense than *that*). Too bad the transporter device development is still stuck at the transporting single photons stage or something like that, which isn't really helpful for stuff. :/

But good to know that Stormwatch isn't necessary for reading Authority.
