why is Tumblr so broken?

In its mobile app (so no xkit) Tumblr keeps showing me stuff I haven't subscribed to, even though I unchecked all the options for it to mess with my dash (the "best first" as well as the option to show what others liked to me). And that wouldn't be that horrible now and then, but it keeps showing me the same things again and again, even after clicking the same thing away as uninteresting half a dozen time.

Just now I resorted to blocking an account just to (hopefully) make Tumblr stop showing it to me again and again, even though the user didn't do anything to me nor was the post upsetting, I just didn't want to see it, especially not more than once. I'm not sure that Tumblr is really doing these blogs a favor by "promoting" them like that.

Yesterday desktop tumblr was just not loading for me at all. Or half-loading then freezing. It's such a terrible site.

Yes. It fails at such basic things. If it wants to push things at me via its "algorithm" (that in actuality can't be much of one), it should at least register that I have already seen a thing and explicitly rejected it. That doesn't require some deep data wizardry or anything.

I had the same thing happen because I had some “subscriptions” in the search field. I guess they’re tags you subscribe to because you’ve fastened them to the search field. I don’t know if this makes sense to you. You can only see and remove them on a computer browser.

??? I'm afraid it doesn't.

As far as I know I don't follow any tags, at least I didn't subscribe to anything intentionally and I have disabled the option allowing them to use my search history to customize. And on my computer I don't see the posts themselves because of Xkit I assume. Can I still change this or do I need to temporarily disable Xkit on my computer? Where do I have to go to stop this?

They are clearly convinced that I am dying to see DuckTales screenscaps, because now that I have the one Tumblr blocked they are showing them from a different source. I had assumed that was because I subscribe to an artist also doing DuckTales.

And it is so messed up that they push their app, but then you are missing a ton of settings there.

The only platform that I think is worse than Tumblr is FaceBook. I am irritated by Tumblr's shortcomings, but I hate FaceBook with the hot passion of a thousand suns.

I have never even tried Facebook, and nothing I've heard about it makes me want to try it out.
