If you play Wordle in another language besides English (that you speak well), do you find it harder? I have a harder time guessing in German than in English, where most often it just takes me four attempts to get it right. Is English more suited to the five letter limit maybe?

I've since found that I eventually got better at the German one with a little practice, so that the difference mostly vanished. It remains a bit odd that it doesn't do umlauts though.

Umlauts: It sounds like the creator chose to use the ASCII character set. While that does often make things easier when programming, by 2022 I would expect UTF-8 to be not *that* hard to support? I have not seen the source code, though.

It would probably increase the difficulty, because honing in on the vowels first seems a good strategy, and having three more would make things harder, even more than just adding more letters in general. I haven't tried a Russian one because my vocabulary just isn't good enough (yet -- still nursing some hope of eventual progress out of the A2/B1 intermediate level slog...) but I imagine that is harder to guess, just because the alphabet has more letters.

When I discovered my wife was doing 5 languages, I teased her about trying Russian, and she was like, "Noooo, my Russian isn't good enough!"

I just tried Russian on wordle.global and guessed it in four, but didn't even know the word. And Google translate and my regular online dictionary didn't either. Looking in wiktionary resulted in finding out that it's some dialect variant of another word, that in itself was a less common synonym to another word I also didn't know and was unlikely to encounter any time soon.
