In general I'm not much of a pro-warnings person when it comes to fanfic, but sometimes I can truly appreciate the detailed system. Like just now I could avoid reading something because it had an "eyeball mutilation" warning, which is a good thing as I have a squick about eyes being poked and such. (I can probably blame it on childhood trauma and too many eye exams.) And seriously, that site had a separate warnings category for that in its search options, which when I checked it out of curiosity resulted in several stories too. I guess kinks come in all kinds.

....and I totally regret thinking this, but eyeball //mutilation//? Is there much in the way of alteration you can make your eyeballs short of gouging them out? <--highlight for ew?

I'm not sure, because it definitely isn't my kink, but since I have a kind of phobia about stuff hurting my eyes, I can come up with a few more scenarios. First there is of course a variety in the kind of instruments with which you can poke eyes, then you could just scar the cornea of the lenses without actually destroying the eyeball completely, you could use things like lasers on them that will burn them but cauterize the wounds, or you could permanently hurt the eyes with bright lights, or you could drop acid or other chemicals into them, so that they are slowly eaten away..
