yay, new Temeraire!

My copy of Victory of Eagles arrived today, and I just fetched it from the package storage. Finally, after waiting forever to see the cliffhanger from the last volume resolved!

I pre-ordered mine from amazon.de and they shipped it late on Thursday.

Oh, I see that it's the hardcover version. I was going to wait until the paperback comes out, but now I'm not so sure. It's very tempting!

Yeah, I don't often buy hardcovers, but I'm bad with waiting even more months on a cliffhanger if I know I could read the next part already. So I decided to rather skip buying another paperback or two to make room in my book budget, and get this one in hardcover.

That sucks. Maybe I'm closer to a distribution center? Also I've given up on getting books delivered to my door and always get the packages sent to a Packstation, which in my experience is faster. (I live on the fifth floor and they almost never bring packages up or ring the doorbell in the first place, whether I'm at home or not, but deliver them randomly somewhere in the neighborhood or to post offices with the most inconvenient opening hours and forty minutes away by public transport and so on, so fetching stuff myself right away is less effort.)

Yeah, I wish the series hadn't switched to hardcover editions being published first, but for a few series I'm impatient enough to pay more instead of having to wait many extra months knowing that I could read the next part. At least the dollar is still faily low vs the euro, so the price could be worse.

Oh, thanks for the heads up, forgot it was coming out. Second of two holds at the library. I'll probaby pick it up in paperback later, but hardcovers are off my budget.
