Why do they now have a tag limit?? Worse, the delicious FF extension doesn't inform you of this, it saves the tags properly and you see them if you look at it in the extension (so not cut off like too long notes), they just don't work for the tag searches, meaning I didn't notice while tagging via the extension and have no idea for how many of my bookmarks the tags don't work properly and which one I'd need to edit down to the more essential tags without going through them manually. This sucks. *grump*

I know you don't want to hear this, but I moved over to google reader months ago and have no regrets.

I feel the same way you do about delicious about flickr. Still bitter about the Yahoo betrayal.

But isn't google reader an RSS reader? How is that useful for social boomarking?

Google reader can make feeds out of anything; the alerts, once hey show up in your reader, can be tagged, shared, and posted to your own feed, It even automaticly generates a custom tag cloud for you under the "trends" link.

Try it and click around. I like it. I even imported my LJ list to there, so I read you through google reader.

I use Google Reader to read blog feeds, but I never noticed good tagging functionality. I mean, I sort the blog I follow into a few folders, and it calls those folders "tags" sometimes, but while I have only a handful blog categories I sort feeds into, I have about 3500 different delicious tags I assign to my bookmarks. The interface doesn't seem suitable for this use. I mean, I don't see how a sidebar with 3500 folders would work out.

I haven't been paying any attention, what is the limit? the length of the tag or the number of tags per bookmark? number of tags total?

The length of the tag is limited to 128 characters, but that never bothered me. It's that the number of tags per bookmark is limited to 50 tags. Which granted isn't too much of a hindrance for most stories I tag, even with generous taggging like I do, but I run into it when I do regular tagging for novel lenght stories with many characters and lots of stuff happening.
