Sometimes I hate it a lot that Tumblr has no comment options (in most cases). So often I want to react briefly to some fun post or another, but I just don't do the reblog thing with my own Tumblr -- not that you can really follow and enjoy reactions easily then either. Occasionally the propensity of fandom to use things in ways they weren't meant to be used (and have no features for) has annoying downsides.

Aargh! I know! This often happens to me, where I'm reading along and I see something that makes me want to post a little note to the author -- "Oh, that's so beautiful" or "I absolutely agree, I had never thought about it that way!" or "I agree with most of this, but here's this thing you may not have thought of" ... or, you know, the kind of comments you'd make on LJ. XD

And you CAN'T! Even if you reblog, the odds are pretty good that the author is never gonna see it, especially if there are a lot of reblogs. You can't get a conversation going, or even let them know that you specifically loved the way they drew the mountains in the background. There are times when it's more relaxing than LJ for me, because you don't have the obligation to respond, but then I get to where I want to respond, and it drives me bonkers that I can't.
