In case that anyone thought that the third RAM module worked just because I didn't mention it immediately, that would have been a wrong assumption. I went to the computer store once again last Friday and got another module. While my computer booted correctly with it and didn't crash after a very short time (which I guess was progress) it still did really wacky things, and when I ran a "memtest" program, it showed errors. However I couldn't exchange the module again right away, because of my schedule.

Anyway, so today I managed to go to the store once again. By now when I come there the guy (somehow I end up always with the same of the four or so who work there) looks at me like I'm some kind of computer hypochondriac, and that it couldn't be possibly not working with so many modules, also that slowly they were running out of different options for the RAM module. He tried to convince me that it must be some kind of BIOS setting thing, so I explained that I never changed those, and just to be sure I had them reset to standard before the BIOS update thing I tried anyway. So I got another RAM module, the fourth, and this time my computer booted, and when I ran the memtest at least the first few passes were error free (it takes obviously quite a long while to run every test in this algorithm but after one hour twenty minutes and a couple of error-free tests I got impatient and decided to see if the actual system works). So far all seems well. My computer has been running about five hours now without any weird stuff. Should this be it? I sure hope so.
