I'm not sure I have any super *weird* ideas. Having recced xovers for quite a while, I found that with the right setup almost anything can be made fit in a non-weird way.

As for ideas, I think I have already mentioned this in some previous meme, but the universe still hasn't provided, and I would just love to read a Check Please/Sesame Street crossover. I pretty much adore any Muppet type crossovers in any of my fandoms, but Check Please would work so well.

Jack is a hockey celebrity talking about his anxiety with an anxious Muppet and Bitty meets Cookie Monster, obviously. For once Cookie Monster might meet somebody who can manifest baked goods almost as quickly as Cookie Monster can eat them. And with Bitty being used to hockey teams, there's no issues with Cookie Monster's table manners or lack thereof.

It's frankly tragic that there still is no such crossover to be found on AO3.

For an additional somewhat weird idea, more fusion than crossover, since I'm currently playing quite a lot of Pokemon Go, without actually knowing anything about the Pokemon world building as caveat, I could kind of see the MCU crossover with the Winter Soldier story line where Bucky Barnes is the abused Pokemon, having been turned in a shadow Pokemon, and then gets rescued by Steve the Pokemon trainer...

Four crossovers have gone missing since I last updated. :(

One is an HP/X-Men xover by [livejournal.com profile] penknife, Stutter (ca. 1,500 words), that is a timestamp to Curiosities (needs and AO3 account) (ca. 4,045 words), but unlike that, it is not on AO3, and the LJ version, that used to be at http://penknife.livejournal.com/344056.html has been locked.

The second is a Numb3rs/SGA xover, Crooked Line (ca. 8,600 words), by miss_zedem, that used to be at: http://miss-zedem.livejournal.com/383309.html but the whole LJ has been deleted. From my description: "This is set during The Return for SGA, but its premise is that there was a relationship between John and Charlie in the past and they are meeting again for a temporary reunion. I really liked that this was low on the relationship angst and drama, yet not a PWP either."

The last two are a set of gen Supernatural/Terminator crossovers by [livejournal.com profile] vorrothiel but the LJ has been locked. Criminal Minds/Harry Potter

In Darkness, by Mhalachai. Gen, Aaron Hotchner. (ca. 3,700 words)
The premise here is that Hotch is squib who left the magical world, but his son has magic. I really enjoyed the squib perspective here.

Eagle of the Ninth

Fighter, by PlaneJane. Slash, Marcus/Esca. (ca. 65,300 words)
This is for the movie I haven't watched, and it is a modern AU on top of it, so it read somewhat like original fic, but the whole setup worked well for my kinks: Namely, Marcus is an undercover police officer who infiltrates a slave-trafficking ring that organizes cage fights. He stops Esca from being killed in a fight and thus gains a slave.

SGA

Almost Human, by esteefee. Gen. (ca. 30,200 words)
This a robot!Sheppard AU, with a Rodney who doesn't trust the AIs. I was wary of the fic due to all the author warnings, because breaking of trust between my favorite characters (and mindcontrol not written as kink) risks running into my partner betrayal squick, but I like the cyborg/robot trope so I gave it a try and this worked well for me overall with the way it resolved things.

Sherlock

Strangers, by cj_ludd18. Slash, Sherlock/John. (ca. 34,000 words)
Another robot AU, this one with robot!Watson. I wanted to punch Sherlock a lot for being a jerk in this, but that rather fits with his characterization, so it's not really a complaint.

Crossing these universes is a match I really enjoy, and this one gives a great outsider POV on the Winchesters, and the story worked well from both series' worldbuilding perspectives.

The Once And Future Pain In My Ass, by Ras Elased. Slash, Merlin/Arthur. (ca. 6,000 words)
Dresden Files/Merlin
Normally I'm not that interested in fanfic that transposes Merlin to present day and has him look for Arthur's reincarnation, but mixed with Dresden Files like in this story it works for me, because Merlin hires Dresden and we get his POV on the Merlin scenario. Unfortunately this story doesn't give us their whole quest, but even this setup of their first meeting is a lot of fun.

All Worlds Converge To Where You Are by [livejournal.com profile] gottalovev. Slash, John Sheppard/Dean Winchester, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, Dean/Castiel. (ca. 45,800 words, also available in one file at the AO3)

This has the brilliant premise to mix the SGA alternative reality Vegas-verse with the SPN potential dystopian future from 5x04 The End. The two meshed very well, and I really liked seeing the Supernatural world through Sheppard's POV.

My Brother's Keeper, by Ducks-in-a-row. Gen. (ca. 9,400 words)
House/Supernatural
Sam is in a coma for supernatural reasons, and Dean clashes with House and his team, all in a way that is a lot of fun to read. I think these mesh quite well because it's not like House's procedures and patient interactions are anything like happens in hospitals, so throwing in zombies does not stretch the House universe of wacky medicine too far.

I've followed this as a WIP, and now it is finished and quite awesome. Don't mind the odd title, this is a solid crossover, in which John and Aeryn scrape by post-PKW, and end up working with Mal and his crew because they need a doctor for D'argo.

The Supernatural world functions more as a vehicle for Don-whump than as equal crossover partner in this one, but it's not as if I dislike seeing Don hurt, and angst while he adjusts his worldview to the supernatural.

I thought it was really cool how one side believes it's all aliens, and the other it's all supernatural and I was wondering what was really going on. And I liked Sam and Dean adventuring.

I'm a bit ambivalent about this one, because I would have liked to learn so much more of what happened. In a way it is more the start of what could have been an longer story. OTOH a timetravel crossover mixing Journeyman and Dan's involuntary timetravel with the Sarah Connor Chronicles is such a great fit, and I really like the setup here and the possibilities their meeting here opens.

The fanlore wiki doesn't just cause me even more online activity dreams, it also makes me reminisce about past fandoms, and think fondly of fic I've read. Unfortunately too often I can't find the stories again, because sites and archives vanish. :(

I'd never thought one of my favorite X-Files/Homicide crossovers, Saundra's Mulder/Bayliss Slash-Evidence series, which I saw mentioned on fanlore, could be so hard to find again in its entirety, because X-Files is such a well archived fandom, and I remember it not just on her site but also on the Annex Novel archive and Gossamer, and on some slash archive or other, and its parts won a bunch of awards, yet when I looked for it today I found her site long gone and only some parts of the series in the archives that are still around, but not all stories. :(

However, since the parts are finished stories, and the first couple are still around I'm going to rec it anyway, because I reread the first parts and still like it, ten years after I first read the series. I found a WayBack Machine link to her site that lists the parts, but unfortunately the stories themselves aren't archived.

The main stories in the series were grouped in four arcs: Forward Slash, with the stories Young Blooded, Signature, Worst Case Scenario and Segue: Litany and Requiem is still available at Gossamer completely, also on other sites.

Trace Evidence, with the stories Inadmissable, Hobson's Choice, Say Goodnight and Coda: Penance and Lamentation, has unfortunately only the first part still available easily.

However I found Hobson's Choice in ten parts at the google archive of alt.tv.x-files.creative *hearts usenet* here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

also Say Goodnight in ten parts too: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

and Coda: Penance and Lamentation in three parts: 1, 2, 3.

The third set of stories Cold Cases is archived at Gossamer: Filial Piety, Prescient Perception I, Prescient Perception II, and Epilogue.

The fourth set Sacrament of Silence started with: Segue: The Ties That Bind and Empty Cage was posted in 13 parts but only three of those made it into the usenet archive. (BTW, if anyone on my f-list has a complete copy or knows where to find it, I'd be really grateful.)

There were also a number of vignettes, some also available at Gossamer. Anyway, I dug it up as best as I could for you to read easily. It's a great series.

This is a good action-adventure, and I liked how the shows' mythologies were meshed, even though I'm not that into the whole breeding cult arc of DA season two. Also Alec, Sam and Dean together are just fun to watch.

Recently Penknife offered to write timestamp fic, and I noticed that I never recced the original crossover for which I requested a timestamp. Anyway, in the first Erik Lehnsherr encounters Tom Riddle in 1950, the timestamp is set during the first Voldemort war/the Marauders era, and both are interesting and well worth reading.

Notes/comments: I did this for the prompt "SGA/Avatar the Last Airbender crossover" for the SGA fanart fest [livejournal.com profile] paintedspires, as additional fanart for the Amnesty Week. This is more a fusion than a crossover, but I think it's still within the prompt's parameters. Originally this was supposed to be a series of portraits with each of the team matched with an element from Avatar (I thought after Teyla I'd do Rodney as Earthbender, Ronon as Firebender, and John as Airbender), but I only managed to finish Teyla in time to still post (just barely) during Amnesty Week.
