So Leo's myco is resistant to the second antibiotic. At first I thought it was getting better, because the wet rattling sound seemed less extreme, but after several injections there are still relatively loud breathing sounds, so the improvement seems to have been wishful thinking.

So he's now on the third antibiotic, this one to give twice a day orally. The first dose went fairly smoothly, but experience shows that he struggles more as time goes on, because the surprise factor lessens. Though I think it is slightly less bitter than Baytril, probably because it is a suspension intended to be fed to cats and dogs. Then again, I have to give it twice as often. Now I just hope he tolerates it well (I once had a rat nearly done in from antibiotics side effects, so I'm always anxious when I give one for the first time, and even if it's not that bad, being on antibiotics for so long is just not great for the little one), and that maybe this one will work on the cursed germs.

ratcreature: oh no! (oh no!)
I was right in my expectation that the successive attempts to give Leo the meds would be worse. Considering the scratches my hand now has from an outraged rat during a lengthy struggle, I might need gloves and towels by the end of the twenty doses he's supposed to take. (Also as usual after forcing medication Leo made me feel like a horrible, torture-inflicting monster.)
