Figs showed up at exactly the wrong time of year and somehow at exactly the right moment. He was found alone around Halloween, about six weeks old, wandering through ditches along a rural road near farm fields with barn cat colonies. It was already cold, getting dark fast, and there was no sign of his mom or littermates anywhere. Whether he wandered off or got separated, it was clear he was all alone.
That same evening, a brewer was driving his usual route to local farms. Along the way, he spotted the tiny gray-and-white kitten and pulled over. By pure luck, there was a free cat carrier sitting on the curb nearby. Figs went straight to him without hesitation. Others had tried to catch the kitten earlier, including animal control, but somehow, Figs trusted this one person immediately. Wrapped in a flannel shirt, he was brought home when no one recognized him.
The difference between then and now says everything. The first photos show a scruffy, vulnerable baby. The recent ones show a confident, happy kitten around nineteen weeks old, fully vaccinated, fixed, and settled into indoor life for good. He's gentle, friendly, and clearly aware that he landed somewhere safe. He loves making biscuits, lives for chicken Churu treats, and spends his days warm and cozy.
Figs' story feels less like a rescue and more like timing doing its thing. One small kitten, one passing truck, and one perfectly placed carrier changed everything.
