random curiosity...

What is the fanfic sub-genre that baffles you the most, like a plot device or kink or whatever, that you would have never guessed even existed as a button for others, yet there is a bunch of fic for it (or at least more than a few, I don't mean really rare bizarreness like Fawkes/Squid fanfic or whatever).

I think for me it is fanfic turning canonically unrelated characters into family in order to then have an incest fic rather like regular slash (I haven't just seen this happening with het ships, but I guess it might as well). It's not that common but for example on painless_j's Snape/Harry Incest thematic list are a dozen stories or so, and I've seen it with other characters as well.

My rat Ben is such a dork sometimes. See, yesterday during playtime I had fastened a piece of rusk to dangle from a climbing branch, so that Ben was occupied trying to get this tasty and sweet treat, and of course he managed after a bit of frantic jumping as he chewed through the rope while dangling from it, and was a very happy rat. Tonight Ben keeps checking this branch, looking up to the place where the treat was yesterday with a hopeful expression as if some more food might magically appear in the same place. Just now has been the third time he checked. I think he hopes to give me a hint... *g*

that collage meme

That interest collage thing was fun, though I found it really weird to see some of my own fanart offered as option for my interests, and strangely enough the pencils not the finished colored versions either. I mean, I know that I don't block google and other search engines, but to click through the images for my interest "batverse" and find two of my own pictures offered alongside of official cover art is still strange. I guess as a word "Batverse" is more fannish slang so fanart labeled as such is higher among the hits. (Obviously I chose the prettier Jim Lee cover image for the collage...)
